Climate Network Meeting and end of year celebration - December 2024
Event description
Climate Network meeting: Supporting communities and staff during heat
With summer nearly upon us, VCOSS’ Climate Network will be holding a meeting to learn about how Victorian community service organisations are taking steps to protect communities and staff from heat.
The hybrid meeting will be held on Thursday 5 December from 10:30am-12:00pm, with an optional in-person end of year celebration to follow for those attending in person. When registering, please let us know if you will attend in person so we can arrange for refreshments.Â
During the meeting we will hear from:
- Awhina Kapa of cohealth, who will speak to cohealth’s heat outreach in Melbourne’s public housing high rises;
- Rebecca Abernethy of enliven, who will share enliven’s Multicultural Heat Heroes in Action project; and
- Carole Green of Western Australia Council of Social Service (WACOSS), who will discuss WACOSS’ Heat Vulnerability project.
VCOSS’ Climate Network for Community Organisations aims to build capacity within the Victorian community services sector around climate change response.
VCOSS is the peak representative body for Victoria’s social and community sector, and the state’s leading social advocacy organisation. We work towards creating a Victoria that is fair, just and inclusive. A society where nobody is trapped by poverty, and everybody is supported to live a life of wellbeing.
