Climate Week 2026 - Organic Inks Workshop with Ruth Gibson

In this workshop you will learn to identify plants, seeds, fruits, and flowers which grow in our local woodlands and hedgerows and how we can use them to make natural inks.

You will have the opportunity to paint and play with pre-made organic inks provided by Ruth, as well as make your own to take home with you. The plants we will focus on will be brambles, gorse flowers, and nettle leaf.

Ruth has been working with inks, dyes, and natural pigments from foraged materials for the last five years and brings a wealth of knowledge and love for plants and foraging techniques.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners interested in learning more about wild plants and what we can make from them. All materials will be provided but bringing along your own clean empty jar to make your ink in and take home is encouraged. This workshop is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
