Riley Lee, Cliona Molins & Baran Yildiz in Concert

Event description

Riley Lee (shakuhachi), Clíona Molins (Harp) and Baran Yildiz (Handpan)

This intimate afternoon concert will feature three unique instruments.  In the hands of these musicians, this one-of-a-kind concert will mesmerise you with the haunting melody of the shakuhachi, the lush resonance of the harp and the rhythm of the handpan.

Riley and Clíona have been performing together since 2012. They combine their unique knowledge of two ancient instruments from distinct cultural backgrounds. Since performing at the 2022 National Folk Festival in Canberra, Clíona and Riley recorded their second album Golden Kelp in 2023.   Their recent Golden Kelp video brings awareness to the Great Southern Reef with a pledge made to the Kelp Forest Alliance.

Baran Yildiz is a Sydney based multi-instrumentalist and renowned as one of Australia's most talented handpan players. His music combines melodies and rhythms of the Anatolia, Middle East and Africa with a modern touch on the hand pan, piano and various percussion instruments. His new album, Bridging Worlds, was launched in October 2023.  Baran and Clíona have performed harp and handpan at sold out concerts in Sydney in 2024.

Clíona, Riley and Baran will play music from their recent recordings as well as their own compositions inspired by nature.
