Clone Your Favourite Clothes – Pattern Copying Workshop

Have a favourite T-shirt that fits perfectly?
A pair of leggings you wear every week?
Ever wished you could recreate them without pulling them apart?

In this practical, hands-on workshop you'll learn how to create reusable sewing patterns from your own clothing—without cutting or damaging your garments.

You'll discover how to "read" a garment, understand how it's been constructed, and confidently transfer its shape onto pattern paper so you can sew it again and again.

Throughout the day you'll learn how to:
• Copy a fitted knit T-shirt into a reusable pattern.
• Create a pattern from a pair of leggings or simple knit pants.
• Explore the differences between knit and woven garments.
• Identify grainlines, stretch direction and seam placement.
• Add seam allowances, notches and important pattern markings.
• Understand how garments are constructed and why they fit the way they do.
• Make simple alterations to customise your new patterns, including changing lengths, necklines and sleeves.

This workshop is ideal for people who are ready to move beyond commercial patterns (or just dont want to use them!) and start building a personalised pattern collection from garments they already know and love.

Suitable for:
Confident beginners through to experienced sewists.

Duration
9:30am – 4:00pm
(45-minute lunch break)

Please bring
•One favourite fitted knit T-shirt
•One pair of leggings or knit pants with stretch waist (not a button or zip fly for getting started)
•One simple woven garment (such as a skirt, shorts, shirt or dress)
•Notebook and pen (optional)
•Lunch and a water bottle
• Pattern Making tools will make your day flow better when not having to share : Rulers, French curves, 2H pencils, sharpener, rubber, pattern weights, tape measure- will all help you work autonomously

Please bring garments that you're happy to handle throughout the day. They won't be cut or damaged.... this class is teaching how to copy them without cutting
