Close Up 2.04 - Lavinia Puccetti (Studio Martini)
Speaker Bio - Lavinia Puccetti is the Creative Director and founder of Studio Martini @studiomartini.xyz, a Naarm/Melbourne-based design studio working across editorial design, brand identity, campaigns and art direction for the arts, culture, music and hospitality sectors. Known for her typographically-rich and content-led approach, Lavinia brings conceptual depth, material sensitivity and a collaborative spirit to every project.
Founded in 2024, Studio Martini was established to bring an editorial sensibility not only to books, but to all areas of design. Since launching, the studio has delivered recognised work for leading Australian institutions, artists and curators. Recent projects include the Artefact lookbook for Lucy Folk @ lucy_folk, Hello to Everybody artist monograph by Sallie Culy and published by @badnewsbooks, brand identity for Ordinance Gallery @ordinancegallery_, editorial design for the Warrnambool Art Gallery @ thewarrnamboolartgallery books including Red Flags by Wadawurrung artist Kait James. The latter features a four-page perforated cover that echoes James’ punch-needled practice — transforming the book into a tactile site of agency and disruption.
Lavinia leads each project from concept to production with strategic focus and poetic clarity. Prior to founding Studio Martini, she was senior designer at Hayman Design (2020–2023), where she led acclaimed projects including Union Magazine @union.magazine To Be Magazine @to.be.magzine and Paul Yore: Word Made Flesh — a 416-page monograph for ACCA and Art Ink which won an AGDA Distinction in 2023. She also designed Windows and Mirrors, an anthology of essays by Bundjalung curator and artist Djon Mundine OAM.
Originally from Italy, Lavinia holds a BA and MPhil in Art History from the University of Cambridge, where she specialised in Surrealism and Contemporary Art. She later trained at Shillington College in Melbourne.
Studio Martini is committed to amplifying regional, First Nations, LGBTQIA+ and migrant voices through design that shapes culture and connection.
