Event description

Join Questioning Fashion’s Ali Dibley and Jo Gambale at our next clothes swap as they ask you to consider whether to ‘swap or not?’!!!

This repair and rewear activation comes on the back of their 26 February live podcast recording at the GLC, where they ask: Is there such a thing as an Unsustainable Clothes Swap?

Before the swap begins, from 10am-11am, Ali and Jo will demonstrate solutions to some of the more common issues that lead to unwanted items, including stains, holes and tricky styling requirements. Then until 1pm they’ll be on hand to share repairs advice and restyling ideas with the Clothes Swap participants.

Note: As much as we at GLC love a good clothes swap, all too often participants at public swaps bring items that are stained, discoloured or damaged, causing more waste for the organisers to deal with.

Instead of swapping all unwanted items, Ali and Jo challenge you to consider giving them a second chance, whether that’s through basic repairs, natural dyes, a redesign (shorten hem, remove frills) or simply a restyle.

If we can all coach ourselves to consume less, even if it is secondhand, we might collectively increase the value and longevity of our clothes - and force the industry to slow down production once and for all.
