CLOUD MAKING WORKSHOP BY SIONE MONŪ
Event description
Mālō e lelei, friends! Brown Town is honoured to host our next workshop — a dreamy session of cloud-making with Sione Monū ☁️🌺
Inspired by the Tongan fine art of nimamea‘a tuikakala (flower design), this workshop celebrates creativity, adaptability, and the beauty of diasporic life. Sione’s clouds are sculptural expressions of memory, queerness, and connection — blending synthetic materials with deep cultural resonance.
Sione is an interdisciplinary artist of the Tongan diaspora, based between Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country (Canberra) and Tāmaki Makaurau. Their work spans photography, moving-image, adornment, drawing, and performance, Their practice is bold, tender, and deeply rooted in the spirit of keeping culture alive — honouring tradition while finding new ways to create and connect through everyday acts of making.
We are truly blessed to learn from Sione’s vibrant, heartfelt approach to art-making. This is a space to gather, create, and dream.
Spaces are limited — secure yours now! Mālō ‘aupito 🤎
