Beginner Clown/Mime Workshop

This beginner clown workshop is a fast paced introduction in how to develop your clown character persona and create a performance. We will review the foundations of clown/mime, common gags, improvisation, voice & movement. We will rehearse two acts for the student show, as solo and duos. You will gain the skills to work with other clowns. The workshop will end with a short intro to clown/mime make up and costumery overview and there will be opportunity to put on a face (please bring materials if you plan on wearing make up).

About the Teacher:

SWOOPZ is the clown persona of improv teacher Darren Saad, who has trained in clown & mime at The New School. They host & produce a show called Clown Town and wrote/starred in the short film SWOOPZ & Sunny. They are also an improv teacher, coach and have taken advanced studies in Improvisation & Character at Upright Citizens Brigade.
