Event Info
- During the Event
When you arrive we will welcome you into the wonderful world of Chess!
If you need any help finding your way throughout the day feel free to chat to one of the event staff and we will make sure you find what you're after and you're comfortable.
Once you enter the event there will be a few people around the place and heaps to do both inside and outside. There’ll be a bit going on, but it's all good times!
To the right of the entry there's a few steps or a longer ramp down to Such and Such restaurant. This is where the magic happens…
Inside is the interactive exhibition with chess and board games created by established and emerging Australian artists. If you have pre booked a time slot online, say g’day to the host and we will run you through how it works so you can get straight into game play.
If you haven't pre-booked a time you can add yourself to the waitlist and we will send you a text when it’s your turn to compete.
Outdoors is a place for chilling, eating, drinking, dancing, playing and creating. If you want to get your step count up there's a few but not too many.
Scan one of the qr codes and join ‘Clubb Chess’ on chess.com so you can play your mates or other randoms online while you wait your turn for the exhibition inside, but if you like your own things that's cool too…
Pick a spot, wherever is comfortable and play the games you brought along. There’s chairs and tables undercover in the courtyard, and the grassed area is more of a floor situation with ottomans, pillows and picnic blankets.
When you're hungry you can order damper and johnny cakes from Tukka By The Bush or a sneaky soft serve from Tom. If you have specific requirements and you need to bring your own food, get in touch with us before you arrive and we’ll let you in with the goods.
Drinks will be served up by Such and Such with heaps of non alcoholic options too. We want you to stay hydrated so you can bring a drink bottle in to fill up.
Liquid = Bathrooms.
They are both inside Such and Such and a short walk outside the event in the precinct, everyone is catered for. You’re allowed to enter and exit the event in order to do so.
Waste is an unfortunate product of events like these but we are trying our best.
Your first drink purchase will include the cost of a reusable cup. You can keep this forever or return it before you leave to get your money back.
Please clean up where you can and use the right bins, we’ll label them for you to make it easy.
Like shopping?
Merch and trinkets made by local artists and makers will be available for purchase. We don’t like junk so they are the kind of things you want to keep forever or give away to friends and family if you're that way inclined.
When day becomes night we will have two headline acts playing on the grass. This is your time to sit back, head bang, have a boogie or stand and observe. If you prefer a chilled out atmosphere we would suggest coming earlier in the day or from 6:45pm onwards booking a time to play the games inside. It’s gonna be loud but good fun!
Make sure you're a legend so you can stay as long as you want. We don’t want to have to send anyone home early for being rude and stuff.
- How to get to Clubb Chess
You gotta buy tickets to come, but we tried to make it as affordable as possible. Reach out if you need help with this. The more the merrier!
Oh also,
Everyone is welcome! Just make sure any people under 14 bring a responsible adult.
Buying tickets is the first part of your chess journey..
Once you get them you’ll be sent a link to book a time to play the games inside the exhibition.
These are timed for 30mins of play and they will say how many seats are at the table for each game, so just one booking is needed for you and your mate/s.
We will also leave some times open for walk-ins on the day so don’t fret if you miss out on pre bookings. We got you.
Planning wise we think you should try and spend at least 3 hours to get in all the fun but you can stay from open till close.
Depending on your vibe:
Early = more chill
Later = more party time.
We are at the Legislative Plaza at 220 London Cct in Constitution Place in the city. Getting here is pretty easy and can involve steps, ramps, lifts and pavement depending on your mode of transport. You can tram, bus, walk, cycle or drive. If you need a hand figuring this out let us know and we’ll show you the way.
Don’t forget to bring a drink bottle, sunnies, hat, inclusive attitude, competitive nature and a good handshake. Sign up to chess.com prior if you want to log onto the online Clubb Chess easily on the day. You can also bring your own games from home.
Once you get all that sorted you wait for game day. If you’ve got more questions send us an enquiry and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
We’ll update the website, instagram and send out emails with updates on our progress and any additional information including who the bands are in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled.
- Afters
It’s all going to wrap up around 8:30pm so you can get a good night's rest.
We’d love your feedback so if you had a mad time, or a not so mad time please let one of us know on the day, you can scan the feedback qr code on the way out, or shoot us an email and let us know how you and us went.
It’s over three Sunday’s, so if you wanna come back again buy another ticket and tell your friends and enemies to come along too!
