Event description

In this workshop we will delving into what it takes to create a ‘Community Owned’ regenerative village with affordable housing, food growing, social connection and other aspects for both a rural setting (an ecovillage) and an urban setting (a cohousing neighbourhood). We will be specifically looking at what it would take to create such a village here in the Yeppoon region with its current planning and environmental considerations.

------

Co-facilators and ecovillage founders/trainers, Shane and Jason, will outline the benefits such as architectural and social design of the village, reducing housing costs, relationship with the environment, improving social and cultural connections. They will also share the growing movement of villages internationally and in Australia.

------

You'll also learn about village fundamentals such as legal frameworks, financial models and social processes that make villages work from their professional & lived experience over decades in village development and ongoing involvement in the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) and Cohousing Australia.
