[SECTOR TRAINING] - Co-What? An Introduction to Authentic Co-production with People with Lived Experience and How We Do it Together
Description
Increasingly co-design and co-production is talked about as an approach for engaging with people with lived experience of mental distress, social issues or injustice and involving them in decisions that affect their lives, particularly service design, research approaches and policy formulation.
When people first grapple with co- methodologies there can be a lot of what-if’s. Questions about the approach itself; what it is, how to do it well and wondering if it is appropriate for their circumstance and why. As well as questions about how to do it within timeframes, resourcing and capability limits that are very real in our organisational, policy and funding environments.
This session will provide people with an understanding of the value and values of co-methodologies, reflection on each person’s role within them as well as skills to participate in, lead and advocate for authentic co-design and co-production processes in their context. Real examples from LELAN’s work in South Australia and across the nation will be explored.
