Start the year on a positive note and learn about the strategies being implemented in your local area to deal with the impact of climate change on the Port Phillip Bay coast.

Join our expert presenters geologist Dr James Driscoll (Assistant Lecturer, Monash University) and The Royal Society of Victoria President and coastal geomorphologist Rob Gell AM to explore the dynamic nature of our coastal and marine environment. They will focus on climate change impacts and mitigation solutions, and the geological and geomorphological evolution of our coastline.

Our presenters will also incorporate geospatial technologies and consider how citizen science programs are helping to understand the current and future changes in Port Phillip Bay.

  • Suitable for any interested community members 
  • Teachers will be eligible for 6 hours PD certification
  • Moderate level of fitness required, involves walking (on sand and uneven surfaces) for approx. 2 km
  • Detailed fieldwork notes provided
  • BYO Lunch.

Maps, specific information for the day and fieldtrip notes will be provided following registration. 

Places are strictly limited – suitable for those over 18 years of age.

This event is a collaborative between Geography Victoria and Life Saving Victoria/Victorian National Parks Association/Association of Bayside Municipalities as part of a Coastcare grant.
