Coercive Control and the Weaponising of Systems: What Does Effective Response Really Look Like?
Event description
The Domestic Violence Crisis Service invites all members of the community to participate in this panel event as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence.
As states and territories across Australia begin addressing coercive control within their legal frameworks, it is crucial to unpack what responding to coercive control really looks like. This panel discussion aims to unpack the practical implications and real-world impacts of responding to coercive control including, how services are understanding coercive control across diverse communities and what challenges and successes have emerged in identifying and responding to coercive control in domestic and family violence cases. This discussion will explore the impacts of coercive control and discuss the role of various services in ensuring effective response and support is provided when identifying and responding to coercive control.
Our panel features skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds that work across the domestic and family violence sector.
This event is open to all in the public and is an opportunity to hear about this critical issue.
There will be sometime for a Q+A at the end of the discussion.
We welcome any questions to be emailed to community@dvcs.org.au as there may be limited time on the day.
Please join us for afternoon tea for our community network gathering after the panel discussion. If you have any dietaries please RSVP to community@dvcs.org.au once you get your ticket.
