Coffee & Lyrics - November - Presented by Freo Groove
Event description
‘Coffee & Lyrics’ has been showcasing W-A’s finest musicians and song-writers in the laidback setting of the Hybrid Warehouse in Fremantle for over a year now.
Hosted by the authors of the book “Freo Groove”, this unique event just keeps getting better! We are delighted to announce that our November 2nd show will feature powerful First Nations artist, Stellar Moon.
A Nyikina woman from the Kimberley, Stellar Moon transports her audiences through a journey of liberation. Strong vocals, funky riffs, country-rock overtones with a heap of soul, Stellar sings about all freedom’s facets; freedom of mind, social conditioning and inherited wounds, inspiring deeper connection to self and Country. She includes ‘Nyikina’ language & crowd participation in some songs!
Stellar Moon & the Dark Knights released a debut album ‘Phases’ in March 2024 and have played festivals including Nannup Music Festival and Bridgetown Blues.
Our guest poet for November’s ‘Coffee & Lyrics’ will be award-winning Hispanic American writer, Anna Quercia-Thomas. Anna’s poetry and speculative fiction have appeared widely in publications including Westerly, Overland and the Australian Poetry Journal.
The event starts at 10.30am and cafe opens at 8.30am. Given the coffee machine is turned off during the gig so we can all enjoy the music, best to get here early to grab your coffee and snacks and the pick of the comfy couches.
We will have a small release of early bird tickets for $10.
After that, it’s $15 online and $20 at the door.
Children under 14 are free.
