Event description

Helping nature adapt to a changing climate

An Australia that’s prepared and strong enough to withstand the impacts of a changing climate. This is the future that we’re working towards - and everyone has a role to play. World Climate Day is on 25 September and World Clean up day on 18 September to both help protect our planet – cleaning up litter these days harnesses the power of people around the world to achieve incredible things by joining together.

The recent IPCC report clearly articulated the urgency upon which we must all act on climate change.  In the last two years, Australia has experienced widespread and repeated climate-related natural disasters, which have been devastating for both people and nature and have resulted in catastrophic loss of Australia’s iconic plants and animals at scales we have not previously witnessed.

Greening Australia is committed to tackling Australia’s greatest environmental challenges in ways that work for communities, economies and nature; planting millions of native trees and plants, protecting hundreds of native species, and supporting Traditional Owners’ aspirations for restoring country.

The Community Hub in partnership with Sustainability brings this special Coffee Connect facilitated by Shreya Hedge, Partnerships specialist, our guest speakers Zoe Birnie, Technical Lead and Michael Vyse, Science and Planning Manager will present on Greening Australia’s new collaboration with WWF to innovate and accelerate climate-adapted approaches to restoring the Australian landscape as well as discussing habitat restoration for koalas.
