Description

Free support to obtain birth certificates.

We recognise that without a birth certificate access to many fundamental services is simply impossible.

To obtain or replace a Birth Certificate, births must be registered and all application details must match the existing registration records.

Please book your tickets at the time that suits you best and come along at that time with your documents. You may also simply come on the day and wait for a spot.

We will work with you to support you on the day as promptly as we can.

On the day, to be supported to access FREE birth certificates, families need to bring one of the below:

  • Centrelink Health Care Card; or

  • Centrelink Pension Concession Card; or

  • Disability Support Pension Card

    We can still support you if are not eligible for a fee waiver/free access. You will simply need to pay Births, Deaths and Marriages directly.

    Please also bring with you on the day

    Three forms of ID please select from the following list:

  • Drivers License, Medicare card, and Centrelink card (Health Care Card; or Centrelink Pension Concession Card; or Disability Support Pension Card)

  • If the child is subject to a permanent care order please bring evidence that you have parental responsibility for the child

The following will be provided;

  • Justice of the Peace onsite on the day to certify your identification documents

  • Stations set up to support with each step of the application process

  • Printer, scanner, postage onsite to complete birth certificate application

FAQs

  • What happens on the day?

    On the Day You will be greeted and supported throughout the below by our friendly team Station Setup Photocopying Identification (ID) Documents Justice of the Peace – ID Certification On-site JP will certify copies of ID documents as required for the application. Fee Waiver Support Assistance with completing the fee waiver form (one per certificate) so it is free. Online Application Station Support to complete the online application. Postage Station Pre-addressed envelopes and stamp provided. You will receive a letter outlining next steps and be invited to provide feedback on your experience.

  • What ID can I bring to use?

    Documents must be current (not expired). At least one must have your photo. Choose one of these options: Option 1: Two documents from category 1, or Option 2: Three documents from categories 1-4. (You can pick only one from each category). If you live outside Australia, you can provide the foreign equivalent documents. What if I don’t have the required documents? If you don’t have the documents they ask for: Please bring any identity documents that show your name, and a statutory declaration can be completed on the day explaining why you can’t meet the standard identity requirements

  • I am on the waitlist what should I do?

    If and when all tickets are booked we will create a waitlist.

    Please book in on the waitlist and come at that time.

    Our experience is that for many valid reasons some people who have booked in are unable to attend on the day.

    Please come along with all of your documentation and we will do our best to make sure you are welcomed promptly.

  • What identification documents can I use?

    Please see below for a full list of ID options.

    Documents must be current (not expired).

    At least one piece of identification must have your photo.

    • Choose one of these options:

    • Option 1: Two documents from category 1, or

    • Option 2: Three documents from categories 1-4. (You can pick only one from each category).

    If you live outside Australia, you can provide the foreign equivalent documents.

    • Proof of your residential address in the last 12 months:

      • Rates notice

    • Documents with the company’s letterhead or stamp (issued in the last 12 months):

      • Superannuation fund statement

      • Utility account (gas, water, electricity, mobile or home phone).

    What if I don’t have the required documents?

    • Please bring any identity documents that show your name, and a statutory declaration can be completed on the day explaining why you can’t meet the standard identity requirements. If your ID is expired still please bring it, you may be required to sign a stat dec.
