Colac Urban Landcare Series

What on earth is Urban Landcare? Well…… lots of things really.

We at COLN have noticed an appetite an Urban Landcare movement in Colac.

What do you think it could look like?  Leave some suggestions in the comments on Insta and FB.

In the meantime, to get the ball rolling, we’re coordinating a bunch of FREE ‘taster’ activities, including:

- Canoeing on Lake Colac, the entrance to Barongarook Creek and exploring the edge of the Bird Sanctuary with Adam Fry and Possum Pete;

- Dusk/night walking to watch the Flying Foxes depart for the evening forage; and exploring what other micro bats inhabit the gardens with Ecologist Craig Grabham

- Bird watching with one of our local accomplished Twitchers Adam Fry and recording Frogs with FrogID app

- and Getting our hands dirty in the garden at the Colac Community Hub with Shaun from Intuitive Garden Designs.

Afterwards we’ll be asking you, what would the new Colac Urban Landcare Group like to do next?

The options are endless….. Sailing anyone? Garden tours by bike? Backyard plants for bees and birds? Compost making? How to grow nutrient dense fruit, nuts, herbs and vegetables? Nature strip planting? Urban Cooling? Where to start with backyard poultry? Beekeeping?  Abundance food swaps?  Insect hotels?  Biological fertilizers? Natural History (animalier) painting workshops and lessons?
