The Sexy Circus a Benefit for Marina Go
Event description
The Sexy Circus, a Benefit for Marina Go, featuring Cold, Cold Night Burlesque and Ragtime Rebellion
Some of Maine's finest renegade performers are coming together at Celebration Barn to offer electrifying entertainment and to raise funds for Marina Go—whose work on and off stage has made her a beloved member of the Barn’s and local artistic community—as she embarks on her dreams of going to graduate school this fall!
The Sexy Circus will feature sultry performances by Cold, Cold Night Burlesque, outlaw music by Ragtime Rebellion, and mesmerizing clown acts by Marina Go.
This extraordinary night celebrates Marina as she prepares to take her transformative clown and movement work to the next level this fall when she begins her Master’s degree in devised performance at the prestigious Pig Iron School at Rowan University.
In addition to the performance, the Prohibition-era fundraising fun will include:
The Speakeasy Silent Auction: Bid on donated treasures
The Bootlegger's Raffle Bonanza: Try your luck to win fabulous prizes
Opportunities to contribute directly to Marina's graduate school fund
Funds raised will support this talented local artist's continued education and growth.
Cold, Cold Night Burlesque combines old-fashioned thrills with contemporary choreography.
Ragtime Rebellion features a lineup of talented musicians, including Ragtime Johnny, Dirty Dawz, Slim Pickens, Calamity Jane, Horn E-D, and Wavy Davy. They play an outlaw style of original and vintage ragtime featuring elements of bluegrass, country, swing, punk, reggae, and more.
Marina Go is a clown and cabaret performer, educator, and designer who creates otherworldly magic on stage.
As always, costumes that evoke the style and glamor of the 1920s are highly encouraged: Flaunt your beads, fringe, and sequins! Bust out your pearls, elbow gloves, and bowler hats! And put on your flapper dresses and three-piece suits!
