Using the Collaborative Change Cycle as a lens, CFI Network members and change makers, Jennifer Chaplyn and Sharon Fraser will take you on an exploration of how collaboration unfolds in the real world and some of the things that help move it along.
This practice based session will be of interest to all change-makers, whether you are just starting out or have been working in the field for years.

About the facilitators
Sharon Fraser
B.App. Sci (SP); MBus (man.); GAICD; Salzburg Global Seminar Fellow
Sharon works to support the design and implementation of collaborative practice with communities, government, peak bodies, business, NGOs and services to build a united action for social change.
Sharon’s deep, on-the-ground experience in implementation of Collective Impact, systems change and collaborative practice within the Australian context has informed her participatory and strength-based approach using methods designed for:
- building collaborative governance and practice
- building structures, processes, mindsets and equity for systems change
- giving voice to people in community including those experiencing social vulnerability or exploring change, through reflection and analysis, and
- exploring power and developing ways to share power to achieve improved social outcomes.
Previous executive roles in health, community health and local government, have focused on leading and supporting transformational change within services and community.
Sharon has deep experience in assisting people and organisations to hear and understand diverse voices to develop a shared aspiration, plan and implement a way forward and learn while doing.
Jennifer Chaplyn
BA(Hons, International Relations), GAICD
Jennifer works as a catalytic facilitator and consultant guiding multi actor groups to address systemic challenges through collaboration.
Over the past decade, Jennifer has worked across Australia developing and supporting cross boundary collaborations with and for children, teens, adults, non-English speakers, First Nations peoples, people living with disability, survivors of childhood trauma, and developed and facilitated community engagement and co-design processes at scale.
Jennifer’s extensive on-the-ground experience in implementation of Collective Impact includes a focus on:
- genuine community engagement to bring diverse voices to the table
- co-design of change initiatives to share decision making and power
- building collaborative models of governance that enable new ways of working together
- co-creating outcomes plans to hold multiple strategies that achieve a shared goal
Specialising in creating clarity from confusion, Jennifer’s engaging and hands-on approach helps people to break through barriers in thinking and practice, embrace diversity and engage people with lived experience to create change.
