Event description

Are you currently caring for or supporting a loved one experiencing a severe and enduring eating disorder?

Eating Disorders Victoria has received funding to deliver a series of workshops for carers in 2024. Carers in the community expressed significant interest in participating in a program designed for carers, and we are excited to be able to offer programs to meet the different needs of those in a caring or support role.

What is the Collaborative Care Skills Workshop?

The Collaborative Care Skills Workshop (CCSW) is designed for people who provide care for or support a person experiencing an eating disorder. CCSW is a structured workshop that will be delivered online over five weekly sessions, with content that builds over each session. This evidence-based program was developed by Professor Janet Treasure and has been shown to improve the burden and distress that carers can experience while supporting their loved one. The workshop seeks to improve carer wellbeing, and support carers to develop coping strategies and increase problem solving skills.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is specifically for people who are supporting or caring for an adult (18 years and older) who is currently experiencing a severe and enduring eating disorder (SE-ED).

Whilst there is currently no set definition for severe and enduring eating disorders, the most common defining criteria relates to the duration of the disorder (usually 10 years+) and that attempts at treatment have thus far been unsuccessful.
