Event description

Combine collage, mixed media and stitching to create engaging images with depth, texture and life.

This one day workshop is from 10am-3pm and is suitable for beginners and students with more experience. Our focus will be selecting, placing and layering collage material to build up imagery with interest. We will also incorporate slow hand stitching to add texture and accentuate our imagery.

Tickets: Early-bird members $95 (book before 23/02/2025), non-members $110, non-members $130. Ticket prices include a canvas for your final work.

We use the Humanitix ticketing platform to help us manage our workshops and classes. Humanitix charge a booking fee which we split with you 50/50. Humanitix is a registered charity and 100% of their profits go to social impact projects with a particular focus on closing the education gap.

Workshop time: 10am - 3pm

Please bring: a variety of collage material, needles and embroidery threads, 180 gsm paper. A full material list will be sent to participants.

MORNING SESSION

We will create our collages on paper during the morning session, these will be sampler works A5 scale or smaller. We will use collage cut outs from books and magazines as well as our own art works on paper (drawings, paintings and prints) as well as fabric scraps. Please bring some images you would like to work with. We will also have some collage materials on hand for you to choose images from along with some extra fabric scraps and embroidery needles and threads.

AFTERNOON SESSION

You will be given a canvas 30cmx30cm(12x12 inch) to work with using as many different collage materials as you would like, as well as stitching if you choose to do so. We will create a larger scale image on the canvas with layers of paper, fabric and stitching.

Jan will have examples of her work to view and discuss on the day.
