Collage to Collagraph Print
Event description
Join us for a two-day creative workshop that explores the exciting intersection of collage and printmaking! Over the course of the weekend, you’ll learn how to transform simple materials into dynamic artwork through a hands-on process combining mixed media collage and collagraph printmaking.
Session 1 (Saturday, December 14, 11am-1pm):
In our first session, you’ll experiment with texture and composition by creating a unique mixed-media collage. Using a variety of materials such as paper, fabric, textured surfaces, and found objects, you’ll build layers to develop a rich, tactile piece of artwork. The focus will be on exploring different textures and how they can add visual interest in your composition.
Session 2 (Sunday, December 15, 12-2pm):
In the second session, we’ll take the collage you’ve created and turn it into a one-of-a-kind print! Collagraph printing borrows various techniques from other styles of printing, including mono printing, relief printing, and intaglio printing, to produce unique artwork.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have not only a beautifully textured collage but also a print that is a personal interpretation of your creative process. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just looking to try something new, this workshop offers a fun and inspiring way to explore the potential of mixed materials and printmaking.
This workshop is appropriate for ages 11+ only. Minors do not have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop. Adults must come inside to drop their minor off with the workshop instructor. Drop off begins 10 minutes before the scheduled start time, and everyone must be picked up at the scheduled end of the workshop.
