Collaroy Smiles on Dials Event
Event description
The Sydney branch of the Disabled Surfers Association are excited to return to Collaroy Beach on Saturday 25th February 2023 with a 'Smiles on Dials' event to provide people of all disabilities with a surfing experience in a fun, friendly and safe environment.
Pre-registration for this event is required to book your place to go for a surf for participants - this just helps the DSA ensure that we have sufficient volunteers and resources for the day. If volunteers could also please pre-register it would be greatly appreciated as it will make the sign in process quicker on the day for all involved.
Places are limited for participants, so register now! Once the event is fully booked, no further registrations will be accepted for participants. Can participants please remember to pay $20 on the day.
We surf rain or shine and we couldn't run our events without your help. Volunteers will be briefed as to what to expect on the day and they will also be teamed up with Red Shirt Team leaders who will help / guide our volunteers in and out of the water. Volunteering consists of helping surfers to and from the beach, assisting them in and out of the water including tandem board riding. We always need help with set up and clean up too so if you could make it to the beach earlier than the start time we'll be setting up from sunrise.
Volunteers do not need to know how to surf, they just need to be willing to get involved and have some fun! If you surf or have water skills, it's a bonus. A rash shirt will be provided for use on the day, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own wetsuits.
Please bring your own water bottle as there will be a water fountain provided. We will host a sausage sizzle BBQ at lunch, drinks throughout the day with a presentation at the end of the event.
With DSA events you can guarantee whether you're a participant, volunteer or carer you will come away with a massive smile on your dial!
