Event description

Join Tenderloin transgender icon Collette LeGrande for the first public reading of her one-woman show, Collette LeGrande, since its 2022 debut. Presented at 835 Larkin Street—the home of the hit immersive play The Compton’s Cafeteria Riot, which LeGrande co-wrote—this special event brings her extraordinary life story back to the stage.

Collette LeGrande is a deeply personal and often funny play tracing LeGrande’s journey from her childhood in Missouri and California’s Central Valley to her chosen home in San Francisco’s Tenderloin. Balancing a steady career at AT&T with life on the streets as a transgender woman, LeGrande rises to become Grand Duchess of the Ducal Court, a celebrated performer at Aunt Charlie’s, a playwright, and a beloved community figure.
