    Event description

Immerse yourself in the rich traditions of Aboriginal art and culture through a hands-on painting workshop led by Aboriginal artist Iesha Nardaparli Brown-McLeod. This unique event offers participants the chance to explore traditional techniques, symbols, and storytelling through art. Guided by Iesha’s expertise, attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Aboriginal art and its connection to culture, culminating in the creation of their own artworks inspired by these elements.

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in activities that foster cultural awareness, creativity, and artistic skill development. The session begins with an introduction to the role of art in Aboriginal communities, with a focus on symbols, colours, and traditional storytelling. Iesha Nardaparli Brown-McLeod will demonstrate various painting techniques, providing participants with the opportunity to experiment with natural materials and create their own personal symbols or motifs that reflect their identities or stories.

As this 5 hour immersion progresses, attendees will paint individual pieces on larger canvases, incorporating the skills and symbols they have learned. With guidance and support, participants will have the chance to explore their creative expression while learning about the deeper cultural meanings behind Aboriginal art.

This event is open to all ages and provides a welcoming space for families, art enthusiasts, and anyone interested in learning more about Aboriginal culture through the powerful medium of art.
