City of Melbourne Inclusion Plans Focus Groups: People with Lived Experience
Event description
The City of Melbourne is committed to ensuring that Melbourne’s residents, workers, students and visitors feel included in the city. To achieve this goal, CoM has several plans that outline actions to make our City more inclusive.
The Community Development branch currently has three plans in place that guide City of Melbourne’s initiatives to support marginalised and excluded communities:
o Inclusive Melbourne Strategy 2022-32 (IMS) and its first two-year implementation plan 2022-24
o Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-24
o Women's Safety and Empowerment Action Plan 2021-24
We are keen to hear from people who live, work and study within the City of Melbourne about your experiences of inequality and discrimination.
We would
like to hear from people who:
o Live with a disability
o Are women or girls
o Identify as LGBTIQ+
o Are Transgender or Gender Diverse
o Speak a language other than English at home, or who were born
overseas
o Young people
o First Nations people
We invite you to participate in a focus group facilitated by One Red Step to:
o Test some ideas about how we can make sure that we’re focused on what is important for you.
o Hear about your unique challenges living, working, studying and playing within the City of Melbourne.
o Identify how our inclusion actions can respond to everyone’s needs.
o Find out whether and how you’d like to be engaged in an ongoing way in relation to access and inclusion.
We are hosting 2-hour online focus groups between Monday 17 July and Friday 28 July 2023. Participants will be given a $100 Gift voucher for their time.
If you require assistance to participate in the focus groups please let us know in your registration so we can arrange this. (Eg: interpreter, computer access and support)
