Come-And-Try Game Making
Event description
This introductory session is an chance to explore coding and video game development through the use of Makecode Arcade, using your own device. Please note this is a BYO device session that will require your own laptop or tablet with WiFi and web browser capabilities
Makecode Arcade is an in-browser block-based programing coding platform that focusses on 2D retro-style video games. Ioffers instant feedback to the students on what they create so they can better understand the concepts of code and how coding works in real-time.
I understand that for some children it is important for them to meet instructors and feel comfortable with the environment prior to committing to any long term courses so this come and try is also an opportunity to meet myself, Justin, and explore the venue space.Â
There will be weekly classes over 8 weeks offered in Term 2 of 2024, so take this opportunity to come and try game development.
Explore the use of sprites and simple video game concepts while creating your own retro-style 2D video game.Â
During the 90 minute session students will be led through the process creating a simple, Space Invaders-style game they can then show off to friends and family.Â
* Â All students must bring their own laptop or tablet with WiFi and web browser capabilities *Â
