Come Morning

Screen Hawke's Bay is bringing multifaceted filmmaker Derrick Sims to showcase and speak about his feature directorial debut, Come Morning. 

Come Morning tells the story of a hunting accident that forever changes the lives of a man and his grandson. Set in the 1970s rural Arkansas, Austin Fusion called this dramatic thriller "a subtle yet profound emotional roller coaster.” 

Hailing from the southern United States and now residing in the Wairarapa, Derrick is a director/writer/cinematographer and the founder of Fabled Motion Pictures and Fabled Effects House. 

A childhood passion for watching and making movies followed Derrick to university where one of his shorts was discovered by IMAX, who requested to show his work before the revival screenings of Ang Lee's Ride with the Devil. This soon led to his full-time career behind the camera. 

After the Come Morning screening, Derrick will share his film-making experience in a Q&A session.
