    Event description

Neil D'Bear Thornton and special guests bring you a night of ferocious funnies including Vic M Self, Jadwiga Green, and Sam Gibson

“The Capital’s Funniest Bear”, Neil Thornton is an award-winning comedian, MC, and daddy-bear gay icon. He has performed all over the world, from New York City comedy clubs to the Edinburgh Fringe, and once at a gay nudist resort - not to mention gigs all over new New Zealand and the world. He appears occasionally on the "The Project" and was featured on the TV3 comedy special "After Hours.”

Jadwiga Green: Born and raised in Otago, Jadwiga's industrial grade comedic anxiety has seen her reach national levels of acclaim as an amateur stand-up. Winner of Raw Comedy Quest in 2020, and Director's Choice at the 2021 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, she has been nervously shaking her way through the Aotearoa comedy world with her blunt and wry take on life. She has the stage presence of a clinically depressed alpine cow, and the physical appearance of a clinically depressed alpine cow. Her main goal is for the prime minister to watch her perform and say "Who the **** was that fat homo and why is she so funny?"

Vic Self: Victor Self first dipped his toe in the stand-up pool as a stocky young dyke in the 90s. Graduating from the NZ School of Comedy in June last year reawakened the dream. Victor has been popping up at open mics around Otautahi ever since, a 2023 Raw Comedy Quest National finalist and quite literally a brand new man.

Sam Gibson: Sam Gibson is the comedic triple threat; funny, energetic, and owns 3 Judith Collins fridge magnets. He’s been a fixture of the Christchurch comedy scene for yonks, and he just wrapped up his occasionally sold out solo tour to the New Zealand Fringe Festival and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Trip.com says that Sam is “a comedic force to be reckoned with”, his psychiatrist says he’s a “very active person with a very busy brain”, and you won’t be saying anything because you’ll be too busy laughing. Your mum loves him, your Dad thinks he's "a bit much", you're gonna think he's just right.
