Common Ground: Gender Quotas - A Debate
Event description
Join us Saturday night, August 2 for a lively debate over the proposition:
"Quotas for women do more harm than good."
City of Newcastle CEO Jeremy Bath will debate with National Manager for Generation Liberty at the Institute of Public Affairs Brianna McKee, and the ferociously friendly Alex Morris will moderate. The night aims to be informative and entertaining. The audience is invited to join in the debate after the first hour by sharing their own opinions and perspectives on the topic. Doors open at 6:15 for a 6:45 start.

Meet the Speakers!
Jeremy Bath is the CEO of City of Newcastle and IDE advocate.
"We have about 1,500 employees, consisting of marginally more females than male. That said there are areas of our council workforce that are almost 100% male, so we have a way to go in terms of gender equity. I'm also the Chair of Council's IDE Committee and a strong believer in leading through example."

Brianna Mckee is a Research Fellow and National Manager for Generation Liberty at the Institute of Public Affairs.
"I'm a strong believer in free speech—and the best way to protect that right is to exercise it. When Common Ground reached out, I felt a responsibility to accept the invitation. Gender quotas are a controversial topic and an area of significant public interest. That makes it even more important for both sides of the debate to be heard, so people can form their own views.
