'Communicate with Confidence' Half-Day Workshop
Event description
This workshop is designed to equip you with practical communication skills, resilience strategies, and increased confidence in your communication in both personal and professional settings. The program is particularly beneficial for individuals seeking employment, participating in community activities, or aiming to enhance their overall communication effectiveness. While the primary focus is in-person communication, the skills learned will be applicable across virtual meetings, online interactions, and public speaking engagements.
This session will also address real-world challenges and foster open discussions on navigating communication with low vision.
Participants will:
✔ Develop clear, confident, and effective communication skills.
✔ Enhance self-advocacy and assertiveness in personal and professional environments.
✔ Gain strategies to overcome anxiety and fear in social interactions.
✔ Learn how to engage in networking and relationship-building opportunities.
✔ Explore non-verbal communication techniques relevant to those with low vision.
✔ Participate in a safe, interactive, and supportive environment with group activities and peer collaboration.
This workshop will be facilitated by Fiona Demark. Fiona is a professional speaker with lived experience of vision loss. She brings a unique, empathetic perspective to communication challenges and solutions. Fiona is engaging, motivational, and inclusive, ensuring that all participants feel heard, respected, and empowered.
