Description

We all know that people prefer colour and movement in their communications - but visuals have other benefits too!

Combining words and pictures makes your notes, posters or any communication more interesting and memorable.

Who is this course for?

Anyone who would like to improve their notetaking and communication skills.

  • People who need to produce content for work - for themselves, their teams, other staff or clients.

  • Anyone who is studying who would like to improve their skills in capturing content, summarising and creating study materials.

  • People who would like to explore adding visual content to their journals, lists or other personal content.

The goal of this course is to give you the basic components and some ideas on how you might apply them in your workplace, studying and life to improve notes, messages and memory.

In this course we will:

  • Discuss the power of word/picture combinations for communication

  • Explore the key principles and elements of visual notetaking

  • Explore a range of applications within your organisation - from capture to planned communication.

  • Explore how you might use this in your day-to-day life.

Come along and start adding pictures to your words today!

Benefits of including Visuals

  • Combining words and pictures improves memory retention - helping you create documents, notes and messages that stick.

  • Pictures can help provide context to your content - helping people understand your message in a deeper way.

  • Combining words and pictures in consultation session capture helps surface thoughts, ideas and issues in an engaging way.

  • It can change the way you think and approach your messaging - including ability to simplify content.

In this course you will learn the fundamental skills to start using this important method to improve communication within and without your organisation.

FAQs

  • Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Participants are required to be 18+. If you have a young person 15+ who would like to attend, they will need an adult to accompany them.

  • What do I need to bring?

All materials will be provided, but you can bring a notebook and any pens you would prefer to use if you would like.

  • What if I can't draw?

This is not an art class - it is not about being able to 'draw'. You will learn a range of techniques that may not even require you to draw icons to enhance content. If you can draw, that's great but not essential.

  • Will we be breaking for lunch?

Yes, we will have about a 30 minute break for lunch - a simple grazing lunch will be provided but please feel free to bring anything specific for yourself.
