Communication Opportunities Throughout the Day, Part 2 - Got a device, now what? Christchurch

Following on from the success of Communication Opportunities throughout the day, we have listened to the feedback from participants and are pelased to bring you Part 2 - Got a device, now what?

We are piloting this course in 2024, with a course in Auckland and Christchurch. 

This practical and hands on workshop is aimed at supporting teams around a child who has a communication device to extend their skills and move the device use to the next level.

Workshop content

• General device housekeeping - Are you confidently able to add personalized vocabulary, edit pronunciations and back up your user file
• Visual Strategies -  a quick over view and how these are used in combination with your device
• Modelling – how to model language one level above that of your student, general and targeted modelling
• Language functions/what is communication
• Descriptive teaching
• Assessments to use and goal setting/IEP goals
• Prompting
• Building relationships
• Accessing the curriculum

• Gestalts
• Skills of communication partners
