Community Base Tour by the Canterbury West Coast Air Rescue Trust
Event description
Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of an air rescue operation? Now’s your chance to find out by visiting us at the GCH Aviation base.
We’re opening our hangar doors to the public for a special 60-minute tour of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service. Meet our dedicated crew, see the helicopter up close, and get a glimpse of the life-saving work of both services that operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Take photos, ask questions, and learn about the incredible technology that keeps our community safe.
Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the heart of the rescue and aeromedical operation. Bring your colleagues, friends and family, everyone is welcome.
Please note that this is a working base. Enclosed, comfortable shoes are strongly recommended for your safety. The hangar is unheated and can experience temperature extremes depending on the weather. For comfort, we recommend wearing warm clothing on cooler days and staying hydrated with water in warmer weather.
