Event description

Join our 3-day Community Chinese Language Teacher Training Program* from 24 September 2024, featuring expert-led workshops, real-life teaching practice, and innovative teaching techniques. Gain insights into the Australian education system, classroom management, and engaging teaching methods*. 

Morning tea and lunch is provided daily, and participants receive a La Trobe Confucius Institute participation certificate.

Please note: This program is not a qualification for teaching Chinese in primary, secondary, or university settings. It is suitable for individuals seeking a new skill and wishing to utilize their language skills to explore new career paths.

Day 1 Tuesday 24th September 2024 
Location: Level 3, Room 3.03, La Trobe University City campus, 360 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000

10.00:  Registration 

10.20: Opening 

10.30 – 12.30: Workshop: Teach Chinese Language in Australia (澳大利亚教育体系、文化、传统和课堂管理方法)
Topics: 
- An overview of the Australian education system (澳大利亚教育体系概览)
- Australian educational principles, ideas, and traditions from an Australian cultural perspective (从澳大利亚文化视角看教育的原则、理念和传统)
- Pathways to becoming a language teacher in Australia (成为澳大利亚语言教师的途径)

主讲人:David Cook, 教育顾问和作家

Kevin 从事中文教学工作多年,是广受好评的金牌教师,有着丰富的教学和课堂管理经验。Kevin通过第一手的经验和教学方法,结合乐卓博孔子学院自行开发的教程,引领大家开起教学历程。

Day 2 Monday 30th September 2024 

Location: Library, Room 2.18, La Trobe University Bundoora campus 

10.30 – 12.30: Workshop: How to deliver the first class (如何教好您的第一节中文课)
Topics: 
- Practical insights into handling potential challenges in the first class (应对第一节课潜在挑战的实用见解)
- Preparation techniques (备课技巧)
- Student engagement strategies and how to manage when they are facing very difficult questions or situations(学生参与策略以及在他们面对非常困难的问题或情况时的管理方法)
- Real life experience sharing (真实经验分享)

主讲人:Alvin Zhang, 外语科主管, Salesian CollegeAlvin 从事中文教学多年,从边远地区到繁华都市,为他的中文教学生涯积累了极其丰富的经验。Alvin愿意用他自己总结的教学方法,分享他的心得,一步一步展现如何准备和上好您的第一节课。
