Community consultation workshop - Darwin NT
Event description
Elder Abuse Action Australia (EAAA) has been awarded a tender to create awareness-raising and educational materials focused on family, domestic and sexual violence against older people in Australia. These materials are primarily aimed at workers and professionals who interact with older people.
Before we start developing these materials, we need to ensure that they are relevant and meet the needs of the people we aim to support.
Therefore in conjunction with our community consultation partner COTA Australia, we will be carrying out face-to-face workshops in cities and towns around Australia during October and November.
These groups will consist of people over 60 (45+ for First Nations participants). We are seeking responses to these questions:
How can frontline workers better support older people experiencing abuse?
What knowledge and skills do frontline workers need to develop and enhance to support older people experiencing abuse?Â
The workshops are designed to:
- ensure all jurisdictions are represented
- hear from diverse voices of older people
- understand the complexity of those voices and the issues faced by older people.
The groups will run from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm with a break for morning tea. Please advise if you have any special dietary requirements. Participants who attend will receive a small gift after the session.
Questions about this project can be sent to FDSV.education@eaaa.org.au or phone 1800 960 026.
