Fostering a Developmental Practice

Research conducted by Senior Social Practitioners - Rachael Donovan and Dr. Peter Westoby - has documented NCEC's emerging practice framework, centred on 'accompaniment', which offers a compelling alternative to conventional service delivery models, marked by its deep commitment to humanising support, embracing complexity, and working in true partnership with participants.

You will receive a copy of this Evaluation and Research Report, upon registration for this workshop.

In this 1.5 hour offering you will hear the story of NCEC’s recent experience of working developmentally with individuals and groups from refugee backgrounds.  Working through an intentional practice framework with grassroots, community groups to form associations and build capacity has allowed for increased self-advocacy. 

You are invited to engage with this practice framework through the sharing of practical examples and applications.  This will be followed by group reflections and discussion around ways to incorporate developmental practice into your work, to centre the voices of marginalised groups and communities.
