Description

You are invited to take part in a series of two workshops to help shape the Community Energy Plan.

The Energetic Communities is a project designed to help communities across Staffordshire play an active role in the transition to cleaner energy. Working alongside local people and organisations, we will develop Community Energy Plans and support projects that reduce carbon emissions, lower energy bills and tackle fuel poverty.

Our aim is to ensure that everyone, especially those most affected by high energy costs, can benefit from a greener, more affordable and sustainable future.

What is a Community Energy Plan?

A Community Energy Plan is a shared plan that helps local people save energy, reduce energy bills, keep communities warm and make better use of renewable energy for community spaces, such as solar power. It identifies the issues that matter most to the community and sets out practical actions to create a more affordable and sustainable future.

This plan focuses on helping our community to develop community energy plans to create local projects and new initiatives such as ev car clubs, energy buying clubs that help communities save money and tackle local needs, Energy Performance Certificates for community buildings and make the most of opportunities for renewable energy installations for community assets e.g. community centre solar panels.

Drawing on information gathered from local communities and our understanding of local energy needs, we have developed a draft Community Energy Plan. We now want to test these ideas with community members to check that we have identified the right priorities and opportunities.

Workshop 1: Wednesday 18th November 2026

At the first workshop, we will share the draft Community Energy Plan and invite you to discuss ideas and opportunities that could help reduce energy costs, improve community facilities and support a more sustainable future.

We will ask for your views on:

  • The biggest energy challenges facing our community

  • Ideas for making the community more energy efficient

  • Opportunities for renewable energy projects

  • Local assets and resources that could be used

  • Which actions should be prioritised first

No technical knowledge is needed. We are looking for local knowledge, lived experience and fresh ideas from residents, community groups, businesses and anyone interested in the future of their area.

Your feedback will help ensure the final plan reflects local priorities and delivers real benefits for the community.

Following the November workshop, we will review all feedback and make any necessary changes to the draft plan.

At a second workshop in February 2027, we will present the revised Community Energy Plan and ask participants to review and approve the final version before it is completed. We will also look for potential community support to help deliver these ambitions.
