BIO - HEATHER JOHNSTONE
Since completing a Master of Urban Forestry Leadership from the University of British Columbia Heather Johnstone has returned to not-for-profit Millennium Kids supporting youth led initiatives as well as beginning an Executive Director role at WA Loves Nature where she promotes the unique flora and fauna of Western Australia. She continues her work within community and urban forest advocacy with Vic Park Urban Foresters, Western Australia Tree canopy Advocate groups where she focuses on connecting communities, local governments, and stakeholders to work together and appreciate the importance of their own urban forests through establishing shared values and understanding. She is also the presiding member of the Town of Victoria Park Urban Forest Strategy Implementation Working group.  Â
Heather’s work in youth led urban forest and environmental projects has involved community engagement using a variety of methods to build capacity, relationships and decision making for improved urban forestry governance. .
FACILITATOR
This session will be facilitated by Edwina Robinson, Landscape Architect and Founder of The Climate Factory. She has developed a community-led model of urban micro-forest making.Â
What to expect?
Edwina will give a 5 minute intro, followed by 15 minutes of Heather presenting on the three key points noted above. This gives us 10 minutes for questions.Â
