JUDE DWIGHT – BIOGRAPHY

Jude Dwight is passionate about environmental resilience and social cohesion. She has worked as a biodiversity officer in local government, a teacher at Swinburne University and she has served as Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor at Knox City Council. In her elected roles in local government, Jude drove and supported initiatives and programs that ensured all community members had access to services, housing and food. She also served as Chair of the Eastern Region Group of Councils.

During her tenure as Deputy Mayor and Mayor, Jude oversaw many important projects and policies, including Council’s Social and Affordable Housing Strategy and the establishment of a Food Hub operated by the Outer East Foodshare. Her work has been strongly motivated by her commitment to making our world a better place and her belief that “we need people willing to step up and be the change they seek.”

Jude is currently Communications Manager at Frontier Life, a local small business which has developed a new approach to home ownership by building modular sustainable homes with Australian eco-friendly and renewable materials. This approach allows for movable, adaptable and expandable homes that address housing affordability. Jude’s commitment to environmental sustainability and affordable housing informs her work and she continues to actively contribute to community life.
