    Event description

Did you know Ashburton has a new Community Garden currently being established? It's not fully open to the public yet, but some hard working volunteers have been getting the section ready over winter and are inviting you in for a sneak peak!

In this event, Stephanie Poole, a health promotion officer from Community and Whānau Wellbeing, will give you an overview of how the garden came to be, its purpose and what's happened so far. She'll mention the many wellbeing benefits of community gardens - benefits she has experienced first hand thanks to her involvement in a community garden in Christchurch.

After the garden introduction and chance for questions, it will be time to get active and do some planting!

It's Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme this year is: Community is... what we create together. Come and find out how community is forming as people from all walks of life come together to create this beautiful, productive garden.

Open to people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds!

Note: The aim is for the garden to be wheelchair accessible but at this stage it is a bit rough and the ground is still uneven. If it has rained in the days before, the ground will be unsuitable for wheelchairs.

If you are keen to come along, please let us know by registering/ grabbing your free tickets!

This is one of five events Keep Learning Mid Canterbury is running focusing on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, during Mental Health Awareness Week.
