Community Hangi : Te Puhinui Awa
Event description
Following on from our autumn harvest hangi, Maara Fresh and Te Whakaoranga o Te Puhinui Regeneration are proud to present yet another hangi feast at Te Maara Kai o Wirihana.
We love to share future plans for Te Aka Raataa, a new wetland park proposed for Wiri, and also a native nursery planned for Te Maara Kai o Wirihana. Two exciting local projects aiming to enhance the wellbeing of the Puhinui Awa.
Gates open at 5pm sharp to start planting and potting up of the first native seedlings to go in our nursery. From 6pm, we will share more about these amazing projects in your community and then start to dig up the hangi, with the aim to eat around 630-645pm. The event will conclude after sunset at 7:30pm.Â
This is a free whaanau-friendly event, come down to enjoy some kai from the whenua and meet your Puhinui awa neighbours. Further details will be sent out via email to ticket holders 🙂
