More about the Community Housing Disability Network

In October 2022, the Community Housing Industry Association (CHIA) set up a network of community housing organisations (CHOs) and other stakeholders within the disability sector who share a concern about and commitment to providing quality housing to people with disability in the community. This is the Community Housing Disability Network (CHDN). The network is committed to sharing insights, experience, and expertise, in order to develop solutions/responses that will improve housing options for people with disability while also influencing mainstream housing practice and design.
    _____

CHIA is the national body which represents and advocates on behalf of the community housing industry at a national level. CHIA works collaboratively with the state and territory peak bodies and its members to represent the community housing industry at a national level.

Community housing providers manage a $18 billion-plus portfolio of more than 118,000 rental properties. These properties are home to people who are on low and moderate incomes who find it hard to access affordable or appropriate housing in the private market.
