Event description

This session will be led by Nick Guyett. Nick is the Resilient Communities Officer in the Emergency Management team for Surf Coast Shire Council. With a background in natural resource management and past work as a bushfire responder, his current role focuses on preparing the community for the impacts of fire, flood and other natural disasters. Nick’s aim is that we may all better recover from emergency impacts and thrive to do the things we love, with the people we love most.

About this workshop-
Nick will guide participants through the creation of a personal Resilience Profile as well as planning for emergencies. Participants will learn the principles of resilience, why it matters and what it entails. Participants will take a short online self-assessment that looks at household resilience and be given feedback to resources to improve resilience. Participants will undertake group scenario based activities following on to share learnings, identify commonalities, and finally take a look at emergency planning templates.

What to bring?
Nothing in particular! A note pad and pen if you wish but otherwise just an openness to learning and connecting with your community. Light snacks will be provided.
