Community Inclusion Month Event: People with Disabilities and Institutionalization: History or Continued Reality?

October is recognized in BC as Community Inclusion Month. This event is co-hosted by Kwantlen Polytechnic University, BC People’s First, and BC’s Self Advocate Leadership Network. The event will bring together members of the wider KPU community to acknowledge Community Inclusion Month. Key to the event is a keynote address by special screening of People First of Canada’s 2024 documentary, These Four Walls: A documentary on the Manitoba Developmental Centre. internationally renowned After the film screening, a panel discussion that will focus on Community Inclusion in British Columbia, past, present, and future. Dr Michael Bach, internationally renowned researcher and community leader on ways to advance the full inclusion and human rights of persons with disabilities, will be giving a keynote address.
ASL interpreters will be present.
We will be having a low sensory space provided by LETS.
Morning coffee and lunch will be served.
