Event description

Come along and share the feedback from Independent campaigns from around Australia. We are planning to have a Watch Party on Saturday 6th September 9-5. Come for the whole day or come for part of the day. The location will be decided when we know our numbers. It will be a great opportunity to get and share ideas.

We would love a small donation if possible, as the conference ticket cost $190. The CIP charge $60 per head if you attend individually.

The 48th Federal Parliament has begun, and the new Member for Bradfield, Nicolette Boele, joins the other impressive Community Independents on the crossbench. Community Independents are now one of the largest and fastest-growing political groupings in Australia. The 2025 Federal Election made it clear the landscape is shifting - and that’s all thanks to people like you!

The good news doesn’t stop at the Federal level though, with Community Independent
Peter George elected to the Tasmanian Parliament in a resounding victory - outpolling both the leaders of the Labor and Greens parties, as well as prominent Liberals in his multi-member seat. His election will likely see him hold a pivotal role in the balance of power, giving proof that when communities organise, speak up, and choose integrity over politics-as-usual, they create seismic shifts.

Meanwhile the local Dickson community is getting behind Community Independent
Ellie Smith in the Moreton Bay local by-election. Ellie secured a massive (and politically fatal) 7.4% swing against Liberal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton at the 2025 election.

But the most exciting impact isn’t happening around elections...

The MOST exciting activity right now is what's happening around the country in local communities - in the street, at kitchen tables, in library meeting rooms, at pubs and cafes, and at town halls.

Inspired by recent election results, communities have burst into full bloom! There are letter-writing groups, issue-based campaigns, kitchen table conversations, listening groups, and more… empowered communities taking ownership of their future!

The 2025 CIP Convention is dedicated to communities in action -  strengthening democracy together.
