Over the last year, Kin has developed a Community of Practice for Disability Support Workers in the Goldfields and Kimberley regions. The Community of Practice creates opportunities for support workers in each location to connect and learn, via a range of professional development activities and supports. It was born from a need to stabilise the support worker workforce in regional areas.

This webinar shares the story of the projects’ development in each region, through a process of engagement, collaboration, and innovation. While the spirit of the Community of Practice remains the same in each location, what has unfolded looks quite different as the project has responded to place-specific needs and issues. This includes complex sector dynamics, as well as cultural and environmental considerations.

The project team will share rich insights of the journey so far, the challenges faced, the learnings gained and the breakthrough moments. We will also look to the future, and the challenge of securing the sustainability of the project beyond the current funding term.

This webinar is of particular relevance to those with an interest in regional community development, innovative approaches to professional development and the disability sector.
