Community Paint Days in the Moon Ditch

Join the team of artists in the Moon Ditch to paint sections of the longest mural in California. No experience necessary, all skill levels can take part.

Our teams of professional artists will support you to paint sections of this giant mural. Please book a time-slot to help us to manage the flow of people, you can help us paint for one hour, two hours or the whole morning!

Please read the following guidance before you book.

Access Requirements:

Descent into the Moon Ditch is down an 11' ladder.

Age Requirements:

Must be at least 12 years old to participate, all participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Required Footwear and Clothing:

There will be moisture, puddles, and slight waterflow in the channel. Clothing and footwear will be exposed to water, paint, algae and dirt, so please dress accordingly.

This is the required footwear and clothing to enter the flood control channel:

• Footwear: Closed-toe, sturdy footwear (work boots, rain boots, hiking boots or other similar shoes that are slip resistant are required to enter the channel.

  • NO sandals/flip flops, canvas style shoes (i.e. Converse Chuck Taylors/Vans), open-toe shoes, heels, sandals, or athletic slip-ons.)

• Clothing: Please wear pants and long sleeve shirts made of durable fabric appropriate for the weather. Gloves are recommended.

• There will be little shade, so hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended.

• Please bring your own water

Everyone, including those with access issues or young children, is welcome to join us for Moon Ditch Community Workshops held at Bell Arts Factory (Apr 18) and Vita Art Center (May 2).
