Community Sing Circle Spring Edition
Description
COMMUNITY SING CIRCLE Spring Edition
Come and spend an evening singing, connecting and sharing music together in a warm, intimate setting in Mona Vale.
This Community Sing Circle is intentionally smaller and simpler than our previous events, bringing the experience back to what Sing Circle was created for in the first place: using our voices, connecting with other humans and experiencing the simple joy of singing together.
Held in the beautiful and intimate OneSpace Studio in Mona Vale, this will be a gentle, mostly seated evening centred around guided group singing and live acoustic music.
There will be no DJ or dancing at this event. Instead, we’ll settle into the space together, begin with some gentle nervous-system support, and then move into guided singing accompanied by live music.
And most importantly you do not need to be a “good singer”.
Community Sing Circle isn’t a performance, singing lesson, choir rehearsal or passive sound-healing experience. There’s no pressure to perform, no expectation that you know how to harmonise and absolutely no musical experience required.
The idea is simply to come along, add your voice to the room and experience what happens when a group of people sing together.
🎸 LIVE MUSIC WITH EDWARD LOWER
Our musician for the evening is Edward Lower, a UK-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist now based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Edward has been playing guitar for more than 20 years, with a particular love for fingerstyle acoustic guitar. His influences span folk, alternative and atmospheric music, drawing inspiration from artists including Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, Radiohead and Pink Floyd.
After spending many years living around Byron Bay, music, community and personal exploration became increasingly intertwined in Edward’s life and creative work. His songwriting draws from lived experience, fatherhood, relationships, nature and some of the deeper questions that come with being human.
With a background in acting, voice work and sound-based practices, Edward approaches performing as an opportunity for genuine connection. His music tends towards the intimate and reflective, with a focus on storytelling, presence and emotional honesty.
For Sing Circle, Edward will be helping us create a relaxed musical space in which everyone can participate, rather than simply performing while everyone else listens.
🌿 WHAT THE EVENING WILL LOOK LIKE
We’ll begin by arriving and settling into the space together, with some gentle grounding and nervous-system support before moving into guided group singing with Edward and live acoustic guitar.
The majority of the evening will be spent actually singing together, gently, imperfectly and without pressure.
Towards the end of the evening, we’ll wind things down and then leave some time to mingle, chat and connect with the people you’ve shared the circle with over light gluten- and dairy-free fruit, snacks and nibbles.
It’s intended to feel less like attending a show and more like gathering in a room with other people for a couple of hours of music, voices and genuine human connection.
🎶 YOUR LYRICS
A digital lyrics booklet will be emailed to ticket holders before the event so that everyone can easily sing along on the night.
You’re welcome to print your lyrics booklet and bring it with you, or simply have it available on your phone or tablet during the circle.
No need to memorise anything beforehand, the lyrics are simply there to make joining in easy.
✨ THIS EVENT IS FOR YOU IF…
You love music but don’t necessarily consider yourself a singer.
You miss singing simply because it feels good.
You’d like to meet people in a setting that doesn’t revolve around drinking, loud venues or making small talk over music.
You’re curious about group singing but feel nervous about joining a traditional choir.
Or you simply want to spend a couple of hours doing something calming, joyful and genuinely human.
You can come alone or bring someone with you. Either way, you’ll be welcomed into the circle.
This is an intentionally small-capacity and small venue event.
Keeping this Sing Circle smaller allows us to create the intimate atmosphere that makes singing together feel comfortable, connected and personal.
You don’t need a perfect voice.
You just need one 🎶
