Event description

Hate crime and discrimination not only harms victims, but it also harms their families and entire communities. Hate crimes and discrimination are unfortunately underreported across the community and particular from those vulnerable communities who may not know how to report the incident or who to report it too.

Early last year, the NSW Police Force launched a hate crime awareness campaign designed to educate the public about what are hate crimes, what to do if you are a victim of a hate crime or witness a hate crime and encourage everyone to report incidents to the New South Wales Police Force. A series of education videos, collateral and information packs have been released on social media to create greater awareness around reporting hate crimes and hate incidents to police.

Presentations by the NSW Police Hate Crime Unit and Anti-Discrimination NSW, followed by a Q&A.

Community, service workers and interested parties are invited to attend a lunch and learn style workshop on understanding and reporting hate crimes.
